excogitate.

\ eks-KOJ-i-teyt \  , verb;
1. To think out; devise; invent.
2. To study intently and carefully in order to grasp or comprehend fully.

For some time now, I’ve had the strange desire to excogitate a true musical classic.  Some may say LFO’s “Summer Girls” is a bunch of semi-rhyming rubbish.  I say, don’t speak before your excogitate.

Yeah…I like it when the girls stop by.. In the summer

Do you remember, Do you remember?

…when we met…That summer??
*He obviously does remember.  A classic understandable introduction as they begin to reminisce about the summer.
[Chorus:]
New Kids On The Block, had a bunch of hits
Chinese food makes me sick.
*Once, while singing a NKOTB hit “The Right Combination”, the “summer girl” convinced Rich to try the shrimp sauce on his fortune cookie.  He got sick.  Thus, this memory reminds him of his summer girl.

And I think it’s fly when girls stop by for the summer, for the summer
I like girls that wear Abercrombie and Fitch,
I’d take her if I had one wish,
But she’s been gone since that summer..
Since that summer
*He likes thin, thin girls who are hip.  Summer is warm and nice and conducive to thin girls in thin clothes.
[Verse 1:]
Hip Hop Marmalade spic and span,
Met you one summer and it all began
*whhhoa….
I must admit I was lost with Hip Hop Marmalade; I thought maybe it was a band I hadn’t heard of because I’m too busy listening to Doug Hammer on the piano.  While I googled it…
I found a chick who has dissected this song!  This impressed me and made me want to stop my excogitation and share her knowledge with you. In the first line, she mentions Pride and Prejudice, so she’s pretty serious.  I’ll include the rest of mine and then look for the link below.

You’re the best girl that I ever did see,
The great Larry Bird Jersey 33
*She’s the best girl he ever did see as to Larry Bird was the best basketball player he ever did see.

When you take a sip you buzz like a hornet
*The summer girl is a lightweight.  One sangria has her buzzing.

Billy Shakespeare wrote a whole bunch of sonnets
*He read said sonnets to said summer girl.

Call me Willy Whistle cause I can’t speak baby
*He made light of the fact that he sometimes whistled while he talked, she found it endearing.

Something in your eyes went and drove me crazy
Now I can’t forget you and it makes me mad,
Left one day and never came back
Stayed all summer then went back home,
Macauly Culkin wasn’t Home Alone
*It didn’t make sense that he can’t forget this special summer girl, as it doesn’t make sense that Macauly Culkin wasn’t home alone.  We all know he was.  Twice.  Three times?

Fell deep in love, but now we ain’t speaking
Michael J Fox was Alex P Keaton
When I met you I said my name was Rich
You look like a girl from Abercrombie and Fitch
*A well known pick up line.  Can be changed according to your name.  My name is McAllister, you look like a girl from Hollister.

Cherry Pez, cold crush, rock star boogie
Used to hate school so I had to play hookie,

*He hated school because he loved Cherry Pez, cold rush, and boogying like a rock star instead.  He’s not alone.

….and here’s the Pride and Prejudice girl’s dissection:
