gallant.

\GAL-uhnt\  adjective:
1. Brave, spirited, noble-minded, or chivalrous: a gallant knight; a gallant rescue attempt.
2. Exceptionally polite and attentive to women; courtly.
3. Stately; grand: a gallant pageant.
Gallant would be an awesome last name.  My housemate’s dog is called Gandolf.  I think I might start calling him Gandolf the Gallant.  The first definition was what I expected to see.  The second made me smile.  Brave, spirited, noble-minded, chivalrous, exceptionally polite, attentive to women, and courtly?  My, oh my.  This guy would make a good Bachelor for ABC.
