beamish.

[bee-mish]

adjective

  1. bright, cheerful, and optimistic.

Oregonian hosts have been over the top lovely..as in, homemade waffles, Americanos, a handmade satchel gift, curry dishes, enriching conversation, snacks to go, and so many hiking suggestions kind of lovely. Oregon has made me positively beamish. I’m now in Bend, staying with a friend of a friend whom I had never met. I now find it hard to imagine not knowing her and her husband or knowing this town. People say, “If you visit Bend, you will move to Bend.” Interesting. Bend makes people beamish. From today:

bend

Smith Rock State Park in Terrebonne, OR

bend3

bend4

bend6

bend7

bend11

A shoe tree, obviously.

bend12

bend13

bend14

bend15

A cold but beautiful hike to Tumalo Falls in Bend, OR

bend17

I skipped this exit. But now I’m thinking this would have been a great ploy to get people to not stop here and overpopulate their lovely town.

  1. Oregon is the best! Go to Bandon. My boys and I spent a wonderful week up there crabbing. It’s like a fishing village. Like Bend – I think once you go there, you will want to live there.
