Happy Winter, kind folks. Last night was the first time since 1638 that the winter solstice happened along with a total lunar eclipse. Mindy and I are now expressing our excitement in a situation by saying, “that’s so totally lunar!!”
It was a beautiful caliginous night. We crawled out on the roof just like in high school, but this time we had designated “roof slippers” so the sheets wouldn’t get dirty. We used to be more carefree. The moon gazing was chilly, but so caliginously totally lunar.
Fortunately, Geoff Chester of the US Naval Observatory, says we will not have to wait 372 years for the next one that will be on 2094 DEC 21. See you then.
